Hope for Julieta
Julieta’s overwhelming fears and anxiety jeopardized her family and her well-being. For far too long, she had been unable to cook or do the other things she loves. She had begun suffering inexplicable physical symptoms, like fainting and nausea. There were times when she couldn’t walk without being physically supported by her husband or son. After multiple visits to the hospital, doctors were unable to identify any physical health issues. She cried so often that her son feared he would lose her. Her doctor advised her to seek counseling from Catholic Charities.
Her therapist helped her talk through reasons she had stopped cooking and came to understand that she could safely cook for her family once again. They talked about her other fears for her family and self-doubts about being a good mother and wife. Little by little, she learned to begin changing her mindset by challenging her negative thoughts and finding a positive perspective. With the help of Catholic Charities Community Counseling program, Julieta has regained her peace-of-mind and happiness with her family.
